MGC The Melbourne Gin Company Negroni
A comparatively lighter style of nergoni, substituting the traditional Campari for Marionette (see separate entry), Bitter Curacao. In this Negroni, all the ingredients used are local Victorian products, which gives it a unique flavour and sense of place. On the nose, the Maidenii vermouth comes forward, with its distinctive use of robust Australian botanicals, particularly the sea parsley and humid rivermint, sitting atop the more classic bitter orange aromas. The palate has warm baking spice and an almost hot cross bun-esque quality. This bottled cocktail has much to offer outside the general Negroni profile, and there's complexity drawn in from each of the products, which both unifies the cocktail and creates a drink that is more than the sum of its parts.
