Halliday Top 100 Wines

Before announcing his retirement in May 2024, James Halliday would present his own handpicked Top 100 Wines every year. This year, the Top 100 Wines 2025 has been determined by the Halliday Tasting Team and features a range of varieties and price points. The Halliday Top 100 is an invaluable guide to some of the best Australian wines.

Since it was first published in the 1970s, James Halliday’s annual Top 100 has been one of the most anticipated lists on the vinous calendar. Now selected by the Halliday Tasting Team, the Halliday Top 100 represents the best Australian wines of the year, across a variety of styles and price points.

Following James’ retirement in 2024, and in honour of his legacy, each member of the Tasting Team identified the best wines within their tasting remit to compile this list.

Broken down by category, including Australian Sparkling, White Wines Under $40, Whites Wines Over $40, Red Wines Under $50, Red Wines Over $50, and Taster’s Pick, the Halliday Top 100 is a comprehensive list in terms of price, accessibility and variety, and ultimately a true celebration of the breadth of Australian wine.
