The magazine features insights from the Tasting Team, the most sought-after wine reviews, travel features through Australia and New Zealand's great wine regions, plus profile pieces and more.
Issue #83 – on sale from Thursday October 15, 2026
Notes from the editor:
It’s been a while between drinks – I know, I’ve missed you, too – but I think the new-look Halliday magazine has been worth the wait.
This is our inaugural wine issue. Yes, as a wine magazine, every issue is technically a wine issue. But, compared with our regional issue, to be published each autumn, this will skew more towards what’s in the bottle than where it’s grown.
To kick things off, in this issue, we cover the 2027 Halliday Awards and 2026 Top 100 Wines in depth, Philip Rich explores pinot noir’s price problem, Marcus Ellis looks at the rise of grenache as a symbol for Australian wine more broadly, and I take you inside an epic blind-tasting pitting fine white Burgundy against New Zealand chardonnay.
We also profile Jim Barry senior winemaker Topsi Wallace, historic Hunter Valley winery Tyrrell’s, and, in honour of Craiglee’s 50th anniversary, Pat Carmody. Plus more – more features, more tasting notes, reviews and recommendations... just more.
I sincerely hope you enjoy it.
