Almost a decade after taking ownership of Toolangi, Helmut Konecsny has sold the Dixon’s Creek vineyard to its winemaker, Kaspar Hermann.
“With everything that’s happened in the industry of late, particularly the changes in the corporate landscape, we’re very thankful for the opportunity Helmut has created for our family,” Kaspar says.
“It’s also quite a rare situation, being able to buy something that I’ve gotten to know over the last eight vintages,” he adds. “We haven’t gone into it blindly.”
The 11.2ha vineyard, which borders the Toolangi state forest in the north of the Yarra Valley, was first planted in 1995 to chardonnay, pinot noir and shiraz by viticulturist John Evans.
