King Island Distillery Bass Strait

Tasmania | Currie

Our Review

King Island Distillery Bass Strait hails from the same island that gave Australia one of its most recognised brands in the form of King Island Dairy. Confusingly, this is not the only 'King Island Distillery', as another producer on the island has held that title since '14. This independent distillery produces gins, vodka and moonshine, as well as a range of whiskies currently under maturation and not yet available for sale. Leaning into its iconic location, botanicals for its Coastal Gin are foraged wild from the island, and all of its spirits are fermented, distilled and diluted with local rainwater. With a tasting room at King Island Airport rather than an onsite cellar door, you can taste its range in comfort as you wait for your flight out after a visit to this stunning part of the world. -FRED SIGGINS
