Melbourne Gin Company was amongst the first new-wave gin distilleries, and their flagship product, 'Dry Gin', has been at the core of what they do. Over the years, careful consideration has been placed in this gin, and the quality of the spirit has never wavered. New releases from MGC are rare, but the brand maintains its relevancy through a reputation for exceedingly high-quality products. Many compound gins focus on the botanicals used and less on alcohol integration with said botanicals. MGC Dry Gin manages both, with a hint of sharpness from the alcohol accentuating the woodier botanicals, particularly the dry arboreal juniper. Perfumed citrus sits on the nose and rounds out the back to create continuity while drinking. This gin hits all the marks for an excellent product; the piney core is supported by and supports the other botanicals used to create a polished spirit. The synergistic and textural botanicals create an excellent mouthfeel and harmonious continuity between the nose, palate, and finish.
