Starward Honeycomb Whisky
One of the nice things about Starward’s honey whisky liqueur is that it smells like whisky, not confection. The classic Starward notes of tropical fruit and malty grain are here in spades, and honestly the honey is very restrained, with just a whiff to let you know it’s there. The palate has really well-integrated sweetness and a light, clean finish. This is not as sweet as some other honey whiskies, which many might appreciate. I remember trying the first itteration of this product produced in colaboration with bar Her in Melbourne, which had richer and fuller honey flavour and aroma, which I preferred to this. But would I drink this over something like Wild Turkey or Jack Daniel’s Honey? Absolutely. Still, I don’t understand why this is $10 more a bottle than the whisky it’s based on.
