Starward 100 Proof Whisky

Starward 100 Proof is, in essence, a higher alcohol version of their flagship Nova release. Both whiskies are pretty similar on the nose with lots of red fruit and oak, but while the Nova is lighter with hints of orange blossom, the 100 Proof offers darker notes of apricot jam and woody spice and is mildly more intense. Sweet and expressive with plenty of fruit and oak up front, the alcohol is more present on the finish than Nova’s very light texture. Ultimately, if you prefer a little more oak and intensity, the 100 Proof is a great whisky, while if ease of drinking with a similar level of complexity to the Nova is your goal, this may too be worth seeking out, though the jump in price (thanks to the Australian ABV exice tax) is a quibble.
