At $72, Morris's new blended whisky is one of the least expensive on the Australian market, priced to compete with domestic blends. There’s good grain density on the nose with none of that vodka-like smell apparent in some inexpensive blends, showing good cask influence and excellent integration backed up by nice fruit and a whiff of rubbery smoke. Easy-drinking on the palate but still with plenty of grip, this is absolutely interesting enough to sip on. But in a mixed drink, this whisky would shine, pairing perfectly with dry ginger ale or cola for an Aussie answer to Johnny Double Black. It's wonderful to see more whiskies like this on the market that can challenge imported brands and keep those dollars local.
