Lowburn Ferry

A feather in the cap of Aotearoa New Zealand Wine Estates (a joint venture between Steve Smith MW and Brian Sheth, see Smith & Sheth separate entry) since the acquisition in '19. Established in 2000 by Roger and Jean Gibson, who held degrees in horticultural science and applied science, respectively, the brand had always focused on pinot noir, with just two wines, Home Block and Estate pinot noir, as the mainstays. Lowburn will continue to produce Home Block pinot under the new ownership, which delivers exceptional expressions in the best vintages, with the remainder of the vineyard's fruit utilised for sister brand Pyramid Valley (see separate entry).
