Our Review
The late David and Barbara Sinclair purchased their property in 2001, an acquisition that ‘wasn’t even on the horizon of plan B’. At that time 1.2ha of chardonnay and 0.8ha of pinot noir had been planted but had struggled, the pinot noir yielding less than 0.25t in ’02. So began a steep viticultural learning curve for David and Barbara. Winemaker Scott Ireland (Provenance Wines) was the winemaker from the beginning, making wine under the Sinclair of Scotsburn label and his own Provenance wines. With the passing of David Sinclair in December 2020, the future of the Sinclair of Scotsburn vineyard and brand remains unclear. -JAMES HALLIDAY
