Our Review
Flametree is one of Margaret River’s most successful wineries and yet it owns no vineyards. It’s all about sourcing quality fruit, whether for the entry-level Embers or top-tier S.R.S. (Sub Regional Series). Cliff Royle, who joined in ’09 as chief winemaker, is savvy when it comes to fruit choice. He started the S.R.S. range – chardonnay from Wallcliffe and cabernet sauvignon from Wilyabrup – in ’10. There’s also a Karridale sauvignon blanc. How did he get there? The cellar door offers a tasting of 18-20 wines, a large deck to enjoy your build-your-own platter on and a lawn for kids and pets to enjoy. Closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Good Friday and morning of Anzac Day.
