Hamelin Bay Wines

Western Australia | Margaret River

Our Review

The Hamelin Bay vineyard was established by the Drake-Brockman family, pioneers of the region. Richard Drake-Brockman’s great-grandmother, Grace Bussell, was famous for her courage when, in 1876, aged 16, she rescued survivors of a shipwreck not far from the mouth of the Margaret River. Richard’s great-grandfather Frederick, known for his exploration of the Kimberley, read about the feat in Perth’s press and rode 300km on horseback to meet her – they married in 1882. Hamelin Bay’s vineyard and winery is located within a few kms of Karridale. -JAMES HALLIDAY
