Anderson Méthode Traditionelle Sparkling Shiraz 2021, Rutherglen
Comes in at the drier end of the sparkling shiraz spectrum with little or no expedition liqueur noted. The charm lies more in the quality of the fruit and time on yeast lees, which sees ripe plum and blackberry fruits nicely aligned with chocolate, aniseed, woody spices, earth, leather and gentle aromatic florals. Pale in the glass with a fine, energetic bead and mousse. Bellebonne Natalie Fryar Vintage Cuvée 2021, Tasmania
A blend of 60/40% chardonnay/pinot noir from a single-vineyard in Pipers River produced in the traditional method, aged for three years on lees and a further six months on cork before release. Pale straw with a fine, lively bead and mousse. Stony, dry and impeccably focused, with notes of white peach, lemon and green apple fruits. Hints of soft spice, lemon curd, sea spray, crushed riverstone, almond blossom, mushroom broth, fresh pastries and ozone. There's a flair of lemon and soft spice on the palate. Bellebonne Natalie Fryar Vintage Rosé 2022, Tasmania
A 100% single-vineyard pinot noir from Pipers River produced in the traditional method, 2.5 years on lees. A beautiful salmon hue with a suggestion of copper. A vivid, energetic bead and mousse. The aromatic detail is on point with red apple, redcurrant, wild strawberries and raspberry with hints of shiitake broth, brioche, crushed stone and shells, cream, meadow flowers and some flinty tones. A multi-vintage, 100% chardonnay wine that lies pale straw in the glass with a fine and energetic bead and mousse. Baked apple, lemon and grapefruit with hints of ocean breeze, shortbread, ozone, freshly baked pastries, crushed stone, clover blossom, crème fraîche and petrichor. 65/35% chardonnay/pinot noir. 3g/L dosage and disgorged August '25. I’m a big fan of late-disgorged fizz. It’s all thanks to the extra layers of detail derived from a longer time on tirage lees. This is a light gold hue. Bright with long-lasting, fine bead and creamy mousse yet plenty of refreshing acidity throughout. Aged complexity melds with fresher elements – from baked apple pie, almond croissant and lemon butter to white ripe peaches and tart apples with lemon juice. A blend of 74/26% chardonnay/pinot noir. Light straw in the glass with a fine, energetic bead and mousse. There's a core of crunchy green apple, lemon and grapefruit with hints of clover blossom, a daub of crème fraîche, freshly picked field mushrooms, sea spray, pastries, crushed shells, white flowers and ozone. Sourced from the best chardonnay block at Kayena vineyard and only released in the best years; 25% left on lees in old French oak. Pale straw with an energetic bead and mousse. Machine harvested at night, cool fermentation with Champagne yeast, lees contact post ferment, fermented second time in tank with small dosage. Bounces along to a pretty snappy prosecco beat with King Valley fruit, principally sourced from the 2026 vintage, in usual top form. A lively bunch of fresh-cut apple, pear and lemony citrus flavours gather, deliciously bright and zesty, with plenty of bubbly action and acid crunch in tow. A different sourcing to the usual for the maker with a blend of Central Victorian and King Valley fruit. There remains plenty of lemon-sherbety zip and cut-apple freshness to this NV prosecco.
